If I want to have my dog or cat in your book, do I have to pay?

No.  Submission is free.  You will be asked to submit your information (Full Name, Address, Phone Numbers, Email, etc.), a picture of your pet, a brief profile of your pet (Registered Name, Nickname, Favorite Food, Favorite Sport, etc.) and a write up on your pet (up to 250 words).  Please note any write up submission under 150 words will not be entered in the book.

Why does the write up have to be no less than 150 words?

We place the biographies on a separate page next to the photo/recipe page.  We need a substantial amount of words to accommodate this layout.

What if I go over 250 words?

We will not penalize you for it, however, we do have to fit the words on one page so if it is over by high count, we will inform you to shorten it.  If we do not get a response from you, we will shorten it ourselves to fit the page (usually cutting out a paragraph).

What if I want a copy of the book?

You may purchase the edition your pet is in through our secure website for a short period of time only at a cheaper price before books are submitted to major bookstores and sold for a higher price.

Why is the price of the book higher in the book stores?

All the book stores take a percentage of each book purchased through them.  We raise the price to meet our expenses.  This is why we recommend the purchase of the book through us when we inform you of the offer, usually right after print.

I have 5 dogs and want to submit all five.  Is there a limit on the number of pets I can submit?

No.  There is no limit, however, if you were interested in purchasing a book through us, we will charge you extra fee for anything over 2 submissions.  The fee is $15.00 for each submission page over 2 pets.  Please keep in mind that we sell our books at a flat fee of $69.95, which is the cost of the submission requirements per pet and a copy of the book (plus the free raffle).  If you were to submit more than 2 dogs, we will have to charge you an extra fee to meet our expenses for each submission after the first 2 submissions.  Please note a 15% donation goes to the featured animal organization per purchase of a book only.

How long is the time frame to purchase the books on your website before having to purchase them through major book stores?

Once we are in the process of having the books printed, we will contact all the individuals who participated; informing these individuals of the time frame, which is usually 2 weeks.

Do you send only 1 reminder of this time frame?

No, we usually will email several reminders.  Please be sure to enter an accurate email address when you submit your pet information initially.

How many pages in each edition?

That varies on how many people participate for each edition.  We do not send a book to print under 65 participants.

After we purchase a book, how do we know that the featured organization is getting the 15% discount?

You will get a certified letter from us stating that the donation was made to the featured organization.  We work very closely with the organizations who sign up with us.

What happens if we change our mind about the purchase and want our money back?

We will offer a full refund before the book goes to print.  However, if the book is already in the printing stage, we do not offer a refund.

How would we know when the book goes to print?

We will inform you via email.  Usually when we inform you about the purchase of our books through our website, we also send you a time frame of when the books will be going to print.

What if we don’t have any recipes to submit with our pet information?

You are not required to submit a recipe.  We supply the recipe for your pet.  On the submission page, you will have an opportunity to list any allergies your dog may have and choose a category that you would like your dog to placed under.  We will do our best to accommodate your request.  Due to the volume of requests per edition, there may be only a few spots left and we will place you in what is available.

Do we receive a proof before the page goes to print?

Yes, we send you a proof of the photo, the title of the recipe, the recipe we assigned and your 250 word pet biography.  In certain cases, the frames and design of the pages may change do to page organization and layout, ie.  Paw prints and scroll work (color usually stays the same).

What if we need to make corrections to our proof?

You will have the opportunity to make corrections and send it back to us before it goes to print.  We will inform you of the time frame via email when we send you your proof.

How thick is the book?

The measurements of the book vary.  We use 8 ½  x 11 landscape pages (including cover); but the thickness can vary depending on the number of participants.  We never go under 65 participants, which usually measures approx. ¼ inch thickness.

How high does the resolution have to be for the photos we submit?

We require you to submit a resolution of 250 or better.  We have had people in the past send poor resolution photos and not resubmit a better photo.  We will use what they have submitted, however it will look just as poor after print. We do our best to fix a photo, but sometimes there isn’t much more we can do if the resolution is extremely low or the picture is extremely unclear.

A friend of mine had your company take a photo of her dog and use that for her submission page.  Can you do that for me?

We go to specific events in New York and usually announce which event we will be attending.  If you attend this event and want us to take a photo of your dog or cat for you, we will be more than happy to take the photo.

What events do you usually go to?

We usually attend animal events held by different shelters or organizations trying to raise money to help animals.
